2013 text1 ①In the past, workers with average skills, doing an average job, could earn an average lifestyle. ②But, today, average is officially over. ③Being average just won’t earn you what it used to. ④It can’t when so many more employers have so much more access to so much more above average cheap foreign labor, cheap robotics, cheap software, cheap automation and cheap genius. ⑤Therefore, everyone needs to find their extra-their unique value contribution that makes them stand out in whatever is their field of employment.
22. According to Paragraph 3, to be a successful employee, one has to______
[C] adopt an average lifestyle
2011 text4 It’s no surprise that Jennifer Senior’s insightful, provocative magazine cover story, “I love My Children, I Hate My Life,” is arousing much chatter—nothing gets people talking like the suggestion that child rearing is anything less than a completely fulfilling, life-enriching experience. Rather than concluding that children make parents either happy or miserable, Senior suggests we need to redefine happiness: instead of thinking of it as something that can be measured by moment-to-moment joy, we should consider being happy as a past-tense condition. Even though the day-to-day experience of raising kids can be soul-crushingly hard, Senior writes that “the very things that in the moment dampen our moods can later be sources of intense gratification and delight.”
36.Jennifer Senior suggests in her article that raising a child can bring
[A]temporary delight. [B]enjoyment in progress.
[C]happiness in retrospect. [D]lasting reward.
真题 2012 text2(英语二) ①Girls’ attraction to pink may seem unavoidable, somehow encoded in their DNA, but according to Jo Paoletti, an associate professor of American Studies, it is not.
27.According to Paragraph 2, which of the following is true of colours?
[A]Colours are encoded in girls' DNA.
真题 2013 text3 (英语二)①But snap decisions in reaction to rapid stimuli aren’t exclusive to the interpersonal realm. ②Psychologists at the University of Toronto found that viewing a fast-food logo for just a few milliseconds primes us to read 20 percent faster, even though reading has little to do with eating. ③We unconsciously associate fast food with speed and impatience and carry those impulses into whatever else we’re doing. ④Subjects exposed to fast-food flashes also tend to think a musical piece lasts too long.
32. Our reaction to a fast-food logo shows that snap decisions____.
[B] are not unconscious
[D] are not impulsive
